Announcement of Position Opening Music/Choir Director for Unitarian Universalist Congregation. This is a limited time professional position, 5 hours per week per calendar year. POSITION:                Music/Choir Director

 OBJECTIVE:            

A limited time professional position responsible for directing and coordinating a music program for teens and adults.

 RESPONSIBLE TO:

The Music/Choir Director is co-supervised by the Minister and Personnel Committee and is responsible to the Board of Trustees.

ROLE (General Statement of Duties):

The role of the Music/Choir Director is to coordinate, administer, and implement musical programming.  The Director will need to work with the UUCGV musicians, Worship Coordinator, accompanist, Worship Committee, and other groups as needed to accomplish these tasks.

The Director will provide leadership, inspiration, and assistance to the congregation, volunteers, and families.

HOURS: 

1.   5 hours per week per calendar year, unpaid time to be taken as mutually convenient to the Music/Choir Director and the congregation.

2.   Flexible hours shall include Sunday mornings when either the adult choir or the youth choir is performing.  (The adult choir is expected to perform twice per month between September and May and the youth choir is expected to perform five times per year.)

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Responsible for the planning and development of a variety of musical programming for UUCGV.

2. Work with the UUCGV musicians and Worship Coordinator for scheduling and music programming.

3.  Responsible for music selections in coordination with the worship coordinator, minister or speaker.

4.  Responsible for rehearsing the adult choir and youth choir Wednesday evenings and prior to services.

5.  Scheduling accompanist for Sunday services.

6.  Attend monthly Friday staff meetings and an occasional worship meeting.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

None required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience - Experience in vocal music and some piano skills.

Other Qualifications

1.   Ability to listen well and communicate effectively by both oral and written means.

2.   Ability to recruit, train and work with volunteers.

3.   Must pass background checks.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The ability to ascend steps to access chancel.

 SALARY: $3,800 PER YEAR
